Last weekend I gave the 10th grade confirmation class a quiz, and I wondered how many cursillistas knew the answers. How about what is the outward sign of marriage? (and it's not the rings)

We Have a New Pope

We have a Pope! Pope Benedict XVI. The US media has tried to paint a picture of this pope as a hardliner, and that image could have more trouble for Cursillo than the pope himself. Pope Benedict XVI supports orthodox movements within the church. Cursillo teaches what is fundemental about being a Christian, which as orthodox as it gets, but there are those who don't like anything that is outside of Mass, and look down on us. They will see Cardinal Ratzinger's election as a mandate for them to speak out against Cursillo. Rhetoric will happen. They'll claim the pope is against us, but nothing could be more wrong.

Our response - love. Yes, we always respond with love. To those we don't agree with, we still love them. To those who don't agree with us, we still love them. Agreeing and loving are two different things. One just has to listen to our new pope. Truth in love, unity without compromise.

Every day you are an embasador for Cursillo and a worker for Christ. How you respond will determine more about how they respond to you. Make a friend, be a friend, bring a friend to Christ. That hasn't changed.
